Ley

Award winning, singing sensation Ley Adewole, has worked with major recording artists such as Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, George Michael, Take That, Tom Jones, Blur and The Beautiful South, to name a few.

Her roots like all great, black female soul divas - Aretha, Tina, Whitney are firmly established in the church. Since the tender age of 4 years old, she has been stirring many hearts with her impassioned singing.

In the late seventies Ley was voted winner of a National Talent Competition held by Britain's largest black Pentecostal Church - The New Testament Church of God. She went on to make her first live recording in 1983 with an all female gospel group.

In 1984 Ley moved from the Midlands to London to work and sing with various bands. Whilst singing at a Gospel Jamboree she was spotted by a TV producer - Francis Tulloch. Months later she was to make several guest appearances on the Channel 4 music series 'People Get Ready'. Her inspired performances won her many fans throughout the British Isles.

Ley soon followed her successful TV appearances by concentrating on a solo career in Gospel music. Her talents were now in heavy demand. She was privileged on a number of occasions to be a featured guest vocalist with The London Community Gospel Choir and has provided support to two stage productions: 'The Dream' a musical about Martin Luther King and the musical 'Creation' which was screened by London Weekend Television.

In 1988 her move towards a solo career was rewarded with the British Gospel Association voting her as BEST NEWCOMER.

Then in 1991 Ley decided to travel to the United States to spend several months touring as a British Female Gospel Artist. This was an extraordinary trip where she was not only well received (thriving in her bookings) but was able to hone her vocal skills. She had great opportunities to work with exceptional teachers and veterans in gospel music ie: Albertina Walker, Twinkie Clark and Iris Stephenson, Professor of Music at Crenshaw High School in LA - the main inspiration behind 'Sister Act II'
